Introduction
Welcome to the provisional Web Site of Christopher Pollard Tours for
2012. This is going to be an exciting year as, from 1st June onwards,
it will be ALL CHANGE! A completely fresh style of touring will replace
the classic tours that we have been organizing so successfully for the
past 22 years: mostly smaller groups, shorter and more intense itineraries
often focussing on a particular theme or special event. A feature will
be the 'House Party': a party of 8 maximum in the small hotels in which
Spain Morocco and France excel and which we have never been able to
use before. There will be the occasional Gran Tour and, every year,
a Music Tour featuring live music in very special venues. We are delighted
to be extending our programme into the UK. As ever, Chris Pollard will
accompany every tour.
Our programme for 2012 starts with the eleven tours that mark the end
of Pollard Tours in its present form. There are still a few places available.
The tour details on this site are a summary of the itinerary. Full details
are available: please ask the office.
As this new era dawns we are more confident than ever that what Pollard
Tours offers is the authentic, cultural experience at an unbeatable
price. Don't forget, our tours are led by a genial, specially knowledgeable
expert, are genuinely all-inclusive (lunches and dinners are always
accompanied by excellent wines), and offer clients the unique opportunity
of experiencing the REAL Spain, France or Morocco .
About Christopher Pollard
Pollard
Chris Pollard was born and brought up in the West Country. Whilst studying
Spanish at Durham University he found himself in Jerez de la Frontera
and thus started a love-affair with Spain which has lasted well over
40 years.
He taught Spanish and French at Taunton School for 19 years until setting
up Christopher Pollard Tours in 1990. His encyclopaedic knowledge of
all things Spanish and his endearing and enthusiastic style have made
him countless friends who join him every year in Spain (and now Morocco
and France) for an unforgettable week.
His other interests include music and Opera (he has performed and directed
countless productions); theatre (he has translated for the stage and
worked as a professional actor for 3 months); food and wine (no further
comment). He is a popular lecturer at Dillington House, to NADFAS and
other organisations on all aspects of Spanish culture. He is currently
writing a Short History of Spain for Travellers. Chris accompanies all
tours personally. Please contact us for further
information or request a brochure to find out
more.
