2019 is the centenary of the death of Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Considering the fact that Renoir is one of the most important and popular of the Impressionists‚ the recognition of this anniversary has been muted, to say the least. We‚ however‚ have been inspired to celebrate this great artist with a five-day tour following in his footsteps.
We start in Paris where we shall stay in Montmartre‚ in the heart of ‘Renoir’s Paris’. As well as viewing many masterpieces in the Paris museums‚ we shall travel out to Bougival and Croissy-sur-Seine where he gained inspiration for so many of his famous paintings.
On Day 4 we depart for Cagnes-sur-Mer‚in Provence‚ where Renoir spent his last years. Our visits include his house‚ Les Collettes‚ and the Renoir Museum. Our travelling in entirely by train. Eurostar to Paris and then TGV down to Antibes.
