Description

It is some time since we last visited Santiago‚ far too long. The Tour starts with 3 nights in this wonderful city. We visit the Cathedral, of course, including the 13th-century Archbishop’s palace‚ the monasteries and museums and the medieval quarter that gives the city its atmosphere. In addition, we focus on the centuries’ old Pilgrimage and its effect on the city and go out to Cape Finisterre for a unique seafood feast.

We then strike south‚ pausing in the exquisite cathedral city of Tui and on into Portugal. Our destination for the second part of the Tour is Oporto‚ one of Europe’s greatest underrated cities. From our centrally-located hotel, we explore the historic heart of the city‚ its churches‚ museums‚ atmospheric squares‚ its historic cafés and wine bars. We spend a long morning in a Port Lodge learning about and tasting one of the world’s great wines and take lunch overlooking the Duero.
